Langley is not one place. The City sits tight along Fraser Highway — older stock, rental suites, commercial strip. The Township sprawls north and south across 316 square kilometres, governed separately, built across four different decades. A Willoughby townhouse with a Schlage Encode on the front door and a Brookswood rancher with a 1970s Weiser deadbolt are technically in the same region but need completely different work. We cover both jurisdictions without a zoning premium — from the Walnut Grove interchange off Highway 1, down the 200th Street corridor into Langley City, east to Aldergrove's farm properties at the border, and into Fort Langley's heritage core. BC SWL #E106677.

People call from one end of Langley not knowing how far the other end is. Aldergrove to the Willoughby-Carvolth area is a genuine 25-minute drive under normal conditions. That distance matters when you're locked out in January at 2 a.m. or waiting for a contractor to hand over keys on a new build.
Walnut Grove is a direct exit off Highway 1, which makes it one of the faster response points in the Township. The majority of calls there are residential lockouts and deadbolt upgrades on 1990s tract homes. Hardware tends to be Weiser or Kwikset, often on the original cylinders — standard work, executed quickly.
Willoughby is the build zone. Laneway homes, townhouse complexes, and detached houses finished since 2018 frequently arrive from the builder with construction keying still active — meaning the cylinder is set to a master-key system the builder's trades used throughout the project. Post-handover rekeying is not optional if you care about who has access. We also commission smart locks during handover visits — Schlage Encode, August Wi-Fi, and Yale Assure are the three most common platforms in current Willoughby construction. If the builder pre-drilled for a smart lock and the homeowner wants it programmed and synced before move-in, we handle that on the same call.
Fort Langley is a different category. The heritage district along Glover Road and the surrounding streets contains homes built as early as the 1880s. Rim locks, mortise boxes with skeleton-key profiles, and non-standard barrel keys appear regularly. These mechanisms aren't serviced by pulling a standard Schlage from stock. We carry rim-lock cylinders, period-appropriate mortise hardware, and can cut skeleton-key profiles on-site for documented antique locks. If a mechanism is too worn to rekey, we discuss replacement options that preserve the door's existing prep without requiring a new bore.
Aldergrove sits at the eastern boundary, adjacent to the US border crossing. Property types shift — more acreage, outbuildings, agricultural gates, and detached garages with older padlock hardware. Farm-gate lock changes, deadbolt upgrades on shop buildings, and re-keying after a farmhand or contractor cycle are common requests. Rural properties often have multiple outbuilding cylinders to key together; we bring enough blank stock to complete multi-cylinder jobs in a single visit.
Brookswood and Murrayville are established Township neighbourhoods with mid-century to 1980s housing stock — predictable Kwikset and Weiser single-cylinder deadbolts. Fast work; the distance from the City adds a few minutes but not complexity.

From Willoughby new-build handovers to Fort Langley heritage skeleton keys — what people actually ask.
Yes. Both municipalities are in our service area. Langley City is the incorporated City along Fraser Highway. Langley Township is the surrounding regional municipality — a separate government, separate zoning, far larger in area. We operate across both without a municipal boundary surcharge. If you're unsure which jurisdiction your property sits in, it doesn't affect your call — just give us the address.
Yes. Willoughby new-build handovers often arrive with construction-master keying still active and a pre-drilled smart-lock prep on the front door. One visit handles both: we rekey or replace the cylinder to a new owner key, install the smart lock (Schlage Encode, August, or Yale Assure are the most common on current builds), and walk through the app pairing and access code setup. Scheduling the visit for move-in day or the day before is the cleanest sequence. Call 778-370-5576 to book.
Under normal traffic, roughly 20 to 25 minutes. The 200th Street corridor through Langley City and Township is the main north-south spine; Aldergrove sits at the eastern edge of the Township near the Aldergrove border crossing. It's a legitimate drive. We don't quote Aldergrove the same ETA we quote Walnut Grove — that's not honest. What we'll give you is an accurate window based on where we are dispatching from when you call.
Yes. Fort Langley's older housing stock — particularly along Glover Road and the streets adjacent to the National Historic Site — includes properties with rim locks and mortise boxes that use skeleton-key (barrel-bit) profiles. We carry rim-lock cylinders and period-compatible mortise hardware, and can cut matching skeleton-key profiles on-site when the original mechanism is still serviceable. When a lock is too worn for rekeying, we discuss hardware-preserving replacements that don't require cutting a new door prep.
A padlock swap or deadbolt change on an outbuilding or farm gate starts in the same range as a standard residential cylinder change — parts plus labour, typically $120–$180 for a single point depending on hardware grade. If you have multiple outbuildings, gates, or shop doors to key together, the per-unit cost comes down when we do it in one visit. We carry commercial-grade padlock stock (Mul-T-Lock and ABUS series) suitable for outdoor and agricultural use. Call for a straight quote: 778-370-5576. BC SWL #E106677.
